- Passed laws to protect renters and build more affordable housing.
- Banned cancer-causing PFAS “forever chemicals” from makeup, dental floss, menstrual products, and children’s products.
- Passed a second PFAS law in 2026 to get these chemicals out of our wastewater.
- Secured more than $1 million to replace lead water pipes in the 21st District.
- Chief co-sponsored Karina’s Law to get guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.
- Expanded dual-language programs in Illinois public schools.
- Guaranteed school counseling for every public school student, regardless of citizenship status.
- Made Illinois the first state to count Middle Eastern and North African residents as their own category on state forms.
- Co-sponsored the 2026 law that made Illinois the first state to require independent safety audits of the most powerful AI systems.
- Co-sponsored the law that lets Illinois residents sue federal immigration agents who violate their constitutional rights.

Meet Abdelnasser
“My parents raised me to value hard work and community.”
Abdelnasser Rashid knows the meaning of hard work: he’s the son of Palestinian immigrants who worked minimum wage jobs and ran a flea market booth to make ends meet.
In 2022, he became the first Palestinian American elected to the Illinois General Assembly. Today he’s a father of four in Bridgeview, fighting so hard work pays off for every family in the 21st District.
